Maurice Lacroix’s ambition is to grow as a prestige brand through the development of in-house movements and classic design. Their workshops and ateliers in the Jura region of Switzerland place them squarely in the club of Swiss Manufacture luxury watch brands and their thoughtful design variations around core designs have set them on the right track as a name worth keeping an eye on.
The PT7538/48 vs the PT6088s
This Pontos Chronographe demonstrates why Maurice Lacroix is hitting the luxury watch market design mark. The dial is packed with classic chronograph features, yet manages to look clean and uncluttered. Take a closer look. Notice how the elongated diamond hands in the chronograph movements give the face a sense of dynamic movement, with a hint of space-age glamour? Don’t they look ready to rev up? It is that sort of refinement that is gaining Lacroix a following.
If you’re trying to make a decision, compare it to the this model Pontos Chronograph PT6188, with an energized burst theme on its blue, white and chrome contrasting dials and enough demarcations to satisfy the most ardent metric fan. All those stripes give it an arguably sportier feel than the PT7538.
Still, we can’t help how much we love the PT 7538’s sense of motion. The exhibition glass on the case back shows off the ML-112 Caliber, based on the popular and ultra-reliable ETA/Valjoux 7750. The signature trapezoid date window nests in the subdial at six o’clock. Black croc strap (replacement) comes with the stainless steel MAURICE LACROIX deployment buckle.
