Rolex debuted the self-winding Datejust in 1945, and has consistently improved and upgraded this instant classic ever since. This circa 2006 36mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust ref. 116200 is finely crafted from the superalloy 904L stainless steel, which Rolex adapted from the aerospace industry for its anti-corrosive properties. The Rhodium Roman dial, featuring roman numerals, is set in a sunk bezel with the Rolex name engraved on the inside perimeter. The sapphire crystal features the signature cyclops lens which magnifies the date. This model features the smooth domed bezel option.
The movement is a calibre 3135 self-winding mechanical movement designed and made in-house by Rolex. It features the Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, an innovation that increases accuracy by making the movement insensitive to magnetic fields, shocks and temperature changes. It is a certified Swiss Chronometer, having passed COSC testing. It features the classic three-part Oyster bracelet in 904L stainless steel. The bracelet has an Oysterclasp and Easylink, which instantly loosens the band for additional comfort in heat or for wear over a sleeve. It is waterproof to 100m.
